A SINGLE-DAY GRIEF INTENSIVE FOR TEENAGERS

Carried Forward

One in twelve teenagers will lose a parent before they turn 18. Most of them are sitting in your youth group or your classroom right now, performing okay, carrying something nobody has given them language for. Carried Forward gives them a morning to finally say it.

THE WORKSHOP

Carried Forward: A Morning For Grieving Teenagers

What it is: A 3.5-hour morning intensive for 6 to 10 grieving teenagers, held at a church, school, hospice program, or community space. Built around the first three phases of the Carried Forward Framework.

The morning, phase by phase:

Named · 50 min
We put words to what happened and what changed, the obvious loss and the quieter ones underneath it.

Heard · 50 min
Teens say the honest thing without cleaning it up. Nobody rushes them to make it sound better.

Reclaimed · 40 min
Grief becomes part of the story, not the whole of it. Something to carry forward, not carry them.

Closing · 25 min
Every teen leaves holding a stone. That's where "you carry it, it doesn't carry you" comes from. It's not a slogan. It's what happens in the last 25 minutes of this room.

What I bring: Full facilitation, 3.5 hours · Printed workbooks for every teen · A stone for every participant · Research-backed curriculum · David Kessler Certified Grief Educator · Author of The Other Side of This

What I need from you: A room for 3.5 hours · 6 to 10 teens who have experienced loss · A point of contact for logistics · That's it

What teens walk away with: Language for what they're carrying · A printed workbook, theirs to keep · A stone to carry forward · Two letters to write on their own time · The knowledge they're not alone
