I know what it means to carry grief forward

Robert DelFave seated outdoors on a park bench.

I grew up around grief before I understood how to live with it.

After my dad died, I learned how to keep functioning. When my mom died years later, I experienced another life-changing loss without having fully understood the first one.

From the outside, I continued moving forward. Quietly, I was carrying grief I did not always recognize or know how to explain.

It appeared in relationships, responsibilities, milestones, and questions about who I was becoming. I did not need someone to fix what happened. I needed room to understand what it had changed.

I built the kind of support
I wish I had received.

My experience led me to become a David Kessler Certified Grief Educator and to create work for people navigating life after loss.

I wrote The Other Side of This for grieving teenagers because young people deserve honest language for experiences adults often struggle to discuss.

Today, my individual coaching practice serves adults carrying an early or formative loss, particularly those who lost a parent young and grew into adulthood while quietly carrying it.

You do not need to have lost a parent to work with me. If an important loss continues to shape your life, there is room for that experience here.

Your grief does not have to be made easier for me to hear.

I will not rush you, shy away from difficult parts of your story, or expect you to arrive with the right words.

Our conversations are honest, grounded, and forward-focused. We can explore what loss changed, recognize where grief is appearing now, and develop practical ways to care for yourself when it returns.

I do not believe grief follows a neat timeline. I believe people deserve to feel heard, understand their experience, and build a life in which grief has a rightful place without being allowed to define everything.

You do not need to know exactly what you need.

The complimentary 45-minute Grief Map is a low-pressure conversation about what you have been carrying, where grief is showing up now, and what kind of support may be helpful.

It is a conversation, not a commitment to ongoing coaching.
